Vigelsø is a deserted island in the Odense Fjord - and it's worth a cozy trip! First, take a look at the ferry schedule for Vigelsø. The small ferry "Lunden" mostly sails two Sundays a month from April to October. It costs about 40 kr. per adult and 20 kr. per child.
Upon arrival on the island, there's a long path leading up to a small white house, the feeder master's house. Here, there's also a public toilet, open from May to October. You can choose to go right towards the bird sanctuary and the lookout tower or straight ahead towards the forest and the nature playground. The hiking route is 2.5 km long in the forest. Be aware that the southern part of the island is completely inaccessible to the public due to protected birdlife.
When reaching the bird tower, feel free to go up. Inside the cabin, you'll find pictures and names of the birds you can see by the water, and you can see all the way to Munkebo – what a view.
Afterwards, you can look for sea kale and samphire by the beach at the Bird Tower – there are some snacks to go after. If you're completely silent, you can hear the samphire squeak when chewing on it.
The path continues to the nature playground, where tables and benches for your lunch are found.
Enjoy your time outdoors!
