In the Space Between Abstraction and Figuration
The abstract can capture what has no fixed form and make it visible – giving it shape and life: an energy, a movement or a thought.
By combining these with figurative elements, she creates small visual stories that offer new details every time you look.
Malou Benoni creates partly abstract works using watercolour, collage, ink and acrylic on paper or canvas. Her paintings are often characterised by a clear silhouette that stands out – but when you step closer, the darker areas open up – revealing collage elements with text and layers of abstract colour.
